Established in 1840 by Thiru Eyre Burton Powell, Presidency College, Chennai, is under the control of the Tamil Nadu government. The college is headed by the Principal. This well-known college offers several undergraduate and postgraduate programs. There are facilities for hostel and library within the campus.

Presidency College, Chennai was established in 1840. Thiru Eyre Burton Powell is the founding father of this reputed college. National Assessment and Accreditation Council has accredited this college with Four Stars. The college is located in Kamaraj Salai. This college educates the economically poor at an affordable rate. It has also been ranked as number one science college of India in 2001 and number one arts college of India in the year 2002 by ‘India Today’.
