Padma Lakshmi


Padma Lakshmi is one of the world-known model-cum-actresses. Her origin is from the Chennai city of India, where she was born in 1970. Besides modeling and acting, Padma is also an indo-American cook-book author and a social activist.

Padma Lakhsmi was born in 1970 in Chennai and mostly bought up in the city as well as in America. Padma Lakhsmi has hosted some of the popular television shows such as ‘Season Two’ and ‘Top Chef’. Apart from this, she also has been the ambassador for the ‘United Nations Development Fund for Women’.

Personal life of Padma Lakshmi

Padma Lakshmi did not have a peaceful childhood as her parents were separated. She had to go through a lonely upbringing. Padma had her early education from the elementary school in Chennai. In 1992, she was graduated from the Clark University of Massachusetts in Theater Arts. In 2004 Padma Lakshmi got married in New York City, to Salman Rushdie, the famous

novelist. But the marriage also did not work well for her and she was separated in 2007.

Career of Padma Lakshmi

Her career in modeling was started in Milan, Paris and New York. During her modeling career she has got appreciations for her work. Padma has done modeling for some of the world known designers such as Ralph Lauren, Alberta Ferretti and Emanuel Ungaro.

Padma Lakshmi has also acted in a number of Hindi and English Movies. Most of her roles have been of a supporting actress. She has acted in the American movie ‘Gitter’ and in the Bollywood movie ‘Boom’. In recent past Padma also has portrayed a significant character in the movie, ‘The Mistress of Spices’.

Padma Lakshmi has always been fond of food and cooking. Being a vegetarian she has written some of the notable books on vegetarian cuisines. ‘Easy Exotic’ is one of her well-known cookbook, which won the World Cookbook Awards in 1999.
