Madras Medical College came up in 1835. It happens to be one of the oldest medical colleges of India. Affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, this college is managed by the Government of Tamil Nadu. It provides a number of Undergraduate and Post Graduate programs.
Madras Medical College, Tamil Nadu is one of the oldest medical colleges of India. It was founded on 2nd February, 1835. This renowned medical college is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University. The name was changed to Chennai Medical College in 1996 but was again later on given the earlier name owing to the popularity of the previous name.
Government of Tamil Nadu manages and provides funds for this college. The college is headed by the Dean followed by Vice-Principal. The first Indian lady doctor graduated from this college.
