MA Chidambaram Stadium is the home ground of the Tamil Nadu cricket team. It was founded in 1916. The stadium can hold 50,000 people. On 10th of February, 1934, the first match was played at this venue. The stadium has been witness to a number of records including Sunil Gavaskar’s 236 not out against the West Indies.
MA Chidambaram Stadium is a well-known cricket stadium located in Chennai and also the home ground of Tamil Nadu cricket team. It was earlier known as Chepauk Stadium or the Madras Cricket Club Ground. The stadium has received its name after the former President of BCCI and the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association Mr. MA Chidambaram. It was established in 1916 and has got a seating capacity for 50,000 people. The two ends of the stadium are known as Anna Pavilion End and V Pattabhiraman Gate End.
The first match was held on 10th of February, 1934 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium of Chennai. India emerged victorious in its first test match against England in 1952 at this stadium. The 1987 World Cup opening match between India and Australia, which was the first ODI, was also played here. During the 1996 World Cup, floodlights were established. One of the major attractions of this stadium is the giant electronic screen that has been brought from Melbourne.

- India vs Australia second tied test match in 1986-87. In this match, Kapil Dev scored a century, Dean Jones scored 210 and Greg Matthews took 10 wickets.
- Saeed Anwar scored 194 against India in the 1997 Independence Cup. The crowd gave a standing ovation to him.
- The highest individual score was made by Sunil Gavaskar who scored 236 not out against the West Indies.
- Lowest score of 83 made by India against England.
- England scored the highest in this ground against India being at 652-7.
- Best bowling figure on this ground goes to N Hirwani's (16/136).
