Adyar River


Adyar River is one of the major rivers in Chennai. Adyar Estuary was formed on the Adyar River. The estuary plays an important role in balancing the ecosystem of the city. The river is situated at a close distance from some of the major city roads and railway stations, such as the Gandhi Mandapam Road and the Greenways Road Station.

Adyar River in Chennai passes through the city and joins the Bay of Bengal at the Adyar estuary. The river originates from the Chembarambakkam Lake of the Chengalpattu district. The river is geographically located at 13º1’N latitude and 80ºE longitude. The length of the river is 42 Kilometers.
