Ulsoor Lake has fascinated not only local people of Bangalore but is also a favorite destination of the travelers and tourists frequenting the Garden City of India. Located in close proximity to M. G. Road, this lake has a long history to its name. It is a man-made lake that was constructed way back in the second half of the second century by Kempe Gowda II. Ulsoor Lake is lavishly spread across an area of 125 acres. Initially the lake was known by a separate name, the 'Halsur' or the 'Alasur'. Situated in the northeastern fringes of the city, the lake can be easily accessed from all parts of Bangalore. Various activities can be enjoyed in the Ulsoor Lake in Bangalore. The lake has a recreational complex that has a swimming pool. There is also a garden at one end of the lake known as 'Kensington Park'.

The most fascinating part of the Ulsoor Lake of Bangalore is that there are many islands that are spread across the lake. Tourists can reach these islands via boating. The Boat Club at the lake offers wonderful boating facilities to the visitors. This facility is available on all days of the year between 0930 hrs and 1730 hrs. The boats can also be hired at Rs 120/- per hour. The total boating facility is offered by the KSTDC.
Another important event that is a part of the Ulsoor Lake at Bangalore is the 'Ganesha Festival'. There is also a gurudwara that is located in close vicinity to the lake. One of the largest Sikh shrines in Bangalore, all who come to pay a visit to the Ulsoor Lake frequents the gurudwara too. There are also options of shopping in the close by areas of the lake.
