Bangalore Police


The Commissionerate of Bangalore Police, the first ever in Karnataka state, was formed in the year 1963. Initially, there were only 37 Police Stations within the city premises. Today, Bangalore has 86 Police Stations.

The jurisdiction of Bangalore Police comprises 5 divisions namely Central, South, West, North and East. Deputy Commissioners of Police are in charge of these zones of Police jurisdiction of Bangalore. Sub-divided into further sections, these sub-sections are leaded by the Assistant Commissioners of Police.

Units of Bangalore City Police

The City Police of Bangalore functions through a number of departments. All these departments collectively strive to maintain law and order in the city and also offer crime prevention measures. Some of the units of Bangalore Police are:

  • Traffic Police
  • Foreigners Registration Officer

Apart from the above, Missing Person Squad, Most Wanted and Proactive Policing are some other prime units of the Bangalore Police.

The Police Control Room of Bangalore, facilitated by wireless communication and Call Receiving Center for Emergency Telephone numbers, is headed by Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic and Security. During crisis situations people can dial 100 and 103 to contact the control room personnel.
