National Law School of India University, Bangalore is one of the best universities of law in India. The university provides various graduate, post graduate and distance education in the field of law. The undergraduate B.A., LL.B (Hons) program is of 5 years duration. The academic year starts from 1st of July every year.
National Law School of India University, Bangalore was established on 29th August, 1987 by the Karnataka Government. It offers various graduate, post graduate and distance education in the field of law. A number of retired legal professionals are engaged in the training and research programs of this university. It is one of the best universities of law in India.
The duration of course is 5 years for the undergraduate B.A., LL.B (Hons) program. The post graduate level includes programs like LL.M., J.S.D. M.Phil and Ll.D. The Ph.D. program includes various social science subjects. Besides law, the other subjects that are taught here are Philosophy, History, Sociology, Literature, Political Science and Economics.
The academic year of the National Law School of India University of Bangalore starts from 1st July. For getting admission at the graduation level, one has to complete his/her 10+2 school examination or equivalent and score not less than 50% marks. An admission test is carried out at this level. One can get admission to the post graduate level on purely merit basis. The classes take place from 8:50 am to 1:30 pm from Monday to Saturday. From 3 pm to 5 pm, the students participate in various co-curricular activities. One has to have 75% of attendance to sit for the examination. There are students from overseas too.

students. A large number of students of this university are now working at the Supreme Court and High Courts of India. Some of them are also working in abroad countries.
Some of the notable achievements of this university are:
- A team of this university won the Philip C Jessup moot court competition (Washington) in 1999.
- International Client Counseling Competition (Chicago) in 1999.
- Stetson moot court competition (Florida) in 2001.
