National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bangalore was formed on 27th December, 1974. The director of this institute is Dr. D. Nagaraja. This institute has been given the recognition of 'Nodal Center for Psychosocial Care in Disasters' by the Ministry of Health of the Government of India. The institute works towards problems related to mental health and neuro science.
National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bangalore, also known as NIMHANS is a multidisciplinary organization that fights with various problems related to mental health. This institute was the result of an amalgamation of the 'Mental Hospital' and 'All India Institute of Mental Health'. It was established on 27th December, 1974. Dr. D. Nagaraja is the Director of this renowned institute.
NIMHANS, Bangalore got the recognition of a Deemed University by UGC (University Grants Commission) on 14th November, 1994. Funds for research programs come from several national and international organizations. NIMHANS works as per the direction of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka.
National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences has been recognized by the Ministry of Health, Government of India as the 'Nodal Center for Psychosocial Care in Disasters'. This institute has played a great role during the following incidents:
