Narayana Murthy is the originator of Infosys in India. It is one of the largest IT companies in the world, headquartered in Bangalore. N.R.Narayana Murthy founded Infosys in 1981 along with 6 other software professionals. He has served Infosys as the CEO for 21 years. In 2002, he handed over the responsibility to the co-founder Nandan M. Nilekani. From 2002 to 2006, Narayan Murthy served Infosys as the 'Executive Chairman of the Board and Chief Mentor'.
Narayana Murthy was born in Mysore, India on 20th August, 1946 into a Kannada Madhava Brahmin family. He has done B.E in Electrical engineering from Mysore University and M.Tech in the same subject from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He had been awarded many honorary doctorate degrees by some of the leading universities across the globe.

Narayan Murthy had also received the Ernst Weber Engineering Leadership medal for his role in the globalization of IT services by The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in 2007. In 2008, he has been awarded with 'Padma Vibhusan' by the government of India.
