Bangalore Metro, with 35 stations and 33 km of underground and elevated rail network, is going to be completed by 2011. According to the official estimate, once completed, the metro rail will have a carrying capacity of 10.20 lakhs per day which will go up to 16.10 lakhs by 2021.
The Bangalore Metro Rail project will cover two double line corridors of North-South and East-West. The speed of the trains is estimated to be 80 km per hour and frequency will be four minutes each. The Proposed Metro Rail Project
In March 2005 the Government of Karnataka approved the project of Bangalore Metro Rail. The next year the project was cleared by the Union Government. The North-South and East-West will be the two corridors of the metro rail of Bangalore. While the North-South corridor will be 14.90 km long, the East-West corridor will be 18.10 km long.
