The company manufactured simple enzymes extracting it from tropical fish and raw papaya. Kiran Shaw founded Syngene in 1994 to develop research outsourcing. Syngene is a contract research company, which has annual revenue of 40 crores in Indian currency. The company has tied up with some of the global pharmaceutical giants like AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKlineBeecham and Bristol Myers Squibb. Kiram Mazumder Shaw promoted Research Process Outsourcing (RPO). She is given the credit for coining the term. Cliigene is another company launched by Kiram Mazumder Shaw.
