Bangalore Events


Bangalore city celebrates many national and regional events through out the year. Bangalore events include many religious ceremonies and festivals. Karaga festival, Pongal and Yugadi are some of the biggest events celebrated in Bangalore city. On different festive occasions, many people from several parts of the country arrive in Bangalore city. Apart from the regional occasions, Bangalore rejoices in all national events.

Some of the major events, which take place in Bangalore, are mentioned below:

  • Karaga festival: this festival takes place during the months of March and April every year. During this festival, processions are held where devotees carry pots on their heads and cover a distance of 12 miles to the Sampangi tank.
  • Kadalekaye Parishe: this festival is held in November. During this festival, which is also known as the Peanut Festival, farmers celebrate the first groundnut crop cultivated.
  • Makara Sankranthi or Pongal: this festival is held to mark the initiation of the harvest season. This is also celebrated to mark the season change from winter to spring.
  • Ganesh Chaturthi: the festival takes place in September, the day before Swarna Gowri.
  • Dussehra: it is celebrated over a period of ten days.
  • Yugadi: the festival is celebrated during the months of March and April.
  • Varamahalakshmi: this festival is celebrated in the month of August every year.
