Azim Premji is the chairman of Wipro Technologies, one of the largest software companies in India. He was born in the year 1945, 24th July. His full name is Azim Hashim Premji. He serves as an idol for budding Indian entrepreneurs. From 1999 to 2005, Azim Premji ranked the third richest man in India. He won many awards and accolades for his contribution to Indian Business.
Early Years
Azim Hashim Premji spent his school life in St. Mary's School, which was in Mazagaon, Mumbai. After school, he went to Stanford University to pursue an engineering course. However due to untimely death of his father in the year 1966, Azim Hashim Premji returned to India. He took over his family business at the young age of 21.

The foundation focuses on improving general education in the rural as well as urban areas. It also harps in promoting computer education. Educational CDs of the foundation in various languages are available in the market. Some of the titles are Fun with Chinchoo in Mathematics, Journey on the Clouds and Swatantra Divas.
Short History of Wipro
Before Azim Premji, Wipro derived the majority of its revenues from products like hydrogenated cooking fats. Later products like hair care soaps, lighting products, hydraulic cylinders, baby toiletries and bakery fats. However Azim Premji shifted his business from soaps to software. Today Wipro Technologies deliver technology and process solutions. Besides, Wipro is also world's largest independent Research and Development service provider.
