Budapest- Population Records
Population records of the city in 1996 show that round 79 different communities comprising of 2,494,000 made up the population of Budapest. The population of the city witnessed a significant decline in 2002. This declining number was attributed to the fact that the outskirts of the city were now equipped with better living conditions like proper drinking water and sewage disposal systems. So the people inhabiting these regions did not feel the need to migrate to Budapest. Some of them chose to live in amidst the clean and green rural surroundings rather than being slowly choked in the polluted environs of the city. The 2004 population records of the city estimate it to be around 1.82 million.
