way back in 1888. It was known as Magyar Testgyakorlok Kore. The club initially was meant for sports like gymnastics and fencing. The football wing of the MTK Hungaria FC was established in 1901. The club began competing in the second league football competitions in its first year and graduated to the premier league the following year. It performed well and finished 3rd in its very first year.
The team performed exceptionally especially during the period before the Second World War. It managed to win 7 Hungarian Cups and 15 Hungarian League. The decade of the 1950s marked a significant year in the history of the club. It received guidances from coaches in the likes of Nandor Hidegkuti, Jozsef Zakarias, Peter Palotas and Mihaly Lantos. Hungary emerged as Olympic Champions in 1952. The became the champion side in the Hungarian Super Cup in 2003. In year 2007 they finished as runners up in the Hungarian League.
