Purchase the Budapest card for getting free entry to Budapest museums, availing public transports for free and for reduced prices at hotels, restaurants, tourist sites and on purchases. Validity period of the card varies from 48 hours to 72 hours. Card requires the date, time and card holder's signature. One card is meant for one user.

There are two types of Budapest cards. One is valid for 48 hours and one for 72 hours. Tourists, therefore, can avail the cards according to their requirements. Validity of Budapest card is based on the mention of date, time and signature of the card owner. Without these the card is invalid. One card can be used by one adult person only. Along with one adult a child, below the age of 14 years, can also use the card.

It can be availed for various purposes like to get a discount on entry fee to museums and other tourist attractions, to get a free entry to museums, to get reduced prices at hotels and restaurants, to avail public transport for free etc. The uses of Budapest card are as follows:
  • Budapest card holders do not need to buy tickets while traveling in public transports in
    Budapest. The ticket inspector checks the validity and card holder's signature on the ticket. If you are traveling in a suburban train then the validity of the card remains till the boundary of the city, beyond which a ticket is needed.

  • The cards enable tourists to visit permanent exhibitions, museums and the zoo without an entry fee. The card needs to be checked at the ticket office before entering the museums and other places. For visiting temporary exhibitions, tickets are required.

  • With the purchase of the Budapest card, you will receive a brochure. Discounts are provided to card holders only at those sites and attractions listed in the brochure. Thus, sightseeing becomes cheaper and easier for tourists in Budapest.

  • Holders of Budapest card are entitled to special concessions at the hotels and restaurants of the city. The card needs to be produced while ordering for the food and beverages.

  • The card offers discounted entry fee to the baths in Budapest. But the discounts are available only on the entry fee and not on other services inside the baths.

  • Budapest card enables travelers a discount on purchases. Tourists have to place the card at the shop counter before making the payment.
Budapest cards are available at a number of places in the city including the metro ticket offices, travel agencies, tourist information centers, airport and hotels. The card makes traveling an easy and cheap affair and all tourists are recommended to purchase the card for their benefit.
