The University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover was founded in the year 1778. This educational institution is the only veterinary institution in Germany. This university has a glorious academic heritage. Formerly the university was known as the Royal School of Equine Medicine. In Germany the institution is known as Stiftung Tierarzttiche Hochschule Hannover-TiHo. In 2003, the educational institution attained university status. The university was also expanded in order to supplement the existing course of study. Six clinics, three faculties, eighteen institutes and one pre-institute were constructed at two locations in Hanover.
Courses Offered
The Hanover University of Veterinary Medicine offers a wide range of courses. The university dedicates its research and teaching for the welfare of animals and

humankind. The student strength is approximately 2000. This number includes scholars doing their post doctorate studies in veterinary medicine. The biology course of the university is conducted in collaboration with the Hannover Medical School and Leibniz University Hannover. Clinical research, feed quality, animal health, systems neurosciences and biology of infections are the core research areas of the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover.
Academic Activities
Apart from imparting education in academic courses, the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover also offers services, which are included in the academic curricular of the university. The services range from biochemical, clinical treatment in 6 TiHo clinics, toxicological, pathological and laboratory diagnostic investigations.
