Hanover city was badly damaged in the World War II, but many of the old buildings were reconstructed and many new structures were constructed. Hanover city is famous for its parks and gardens. The Grobe Garden with its large garden theater, waterfalls, and mountains is one of the most beautiful baroque gardens in Europe. Hanover city is one of Germany's richest cities. Trade fairs are an important source of income in Hanover. The most important area of Hanover city's economy is the Messegelände, which is one of the world's most high-tech and modern exhibition grounds, and pulls in millions of international visitors each year.
