Hamburg transportation includes bus service, car service, trains and metro rail service. Hamburg transportation is controlled by HVV or Hamburger Verkehrsverbund, the Transport Association for Hamburg. The validity of the HVV tickets is applicable for all modes of transportation in Hamburg and also in the surrounding area.

Bus Service in Hamburg: Buses are available through out the day from Hamburg's central bus station. You can also avail the night buses if you want to travel a long distance. Buses to Berlin are available. Around 1,500 buses are provided by various transport service organizations. Fisher Bus Service and Happy Bus Service offer buses to major destinations of Hamburg.

Car Service in Hamburg: The most convenient way to
travel around the city is by car.The taxi service is quite frequent. You can also rent a car at a very reasonable price from any of the car rental agency like Europcar-Hamburg, Alamo-Hamburg, Sixt-hamburg, Hertz-Hamburg, Thrifty-Hamburg etc.

Rail Service in Hamburg: This is the most important mode of transport of Hamburg. The widespread network of railway will take you wherever you want in no time. The metropolitan region is connected through 9 regional rail lines, 3-Bahn lines, 3 AKN lines and 6 S-Bahn lines. AKN railway along with the regional railway form the railway network across the city.

If you want to explore the city in a hassle free manner get hold of the Hamburg Card for the tourists provided by the HVV. You can also drive a rented car yourself. Just be aware of the road network and the traffic rules.
