Tourist Attractions:The harbor of Hamburg city is one of the most popular spots for tourists from around the world. There is a 700-meter long floating dock at the underground station, Landungsbrücken. This is the place from where the tours of the harbor start and from where ferries to the nearby regions depart. There are quaint little souvenir shops here and many seafood restaurants serving delicious seafood cuisine. There is a sailing museum ship, Rickmer Rickmers, not far from here. This museum ship gives a glimpse into the fascinating times when ships were the main means of transport. This is a former trading ship of the East India company and is open daily to visitors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Another worth seeing place is the Old Elbe Tunnel. This is a tunnel 24-meter below the river bottom of Elbe River where two tunnels lead to the south side of the River.

Four elevators transport vehicles and people to the tunnel from where they can drive below the River Elbe to the other side of the river. This tunnel is open to pedestrians and bikers daily 24-hours a day free of charge.
FIFA World Cup 2006: Germany is playing host to the FIFA World Cup matches 2006. Five of the 64 World Cup matches, which include one of the quarterfinals and four preliminary round matches, will take place in the German city of Hamburg. On 15 June 2006, a Group A match between Ecuador and Croatia will take place in Hamburg. On 10 June 2006, a Group C match between Argentina and Ivory Coast will be held here. On 22 June 2006, a Group E match between Czechoslovakia and Italy will take place here. On 19 June 2006, a Group H match between Saudi Arabia and Ukraine will take place in Hamburg. On 30 June 2006, a quarterfinal match will take place in Hamburg city. In Hamburg, the matches will be played in the FIFA World Cup Stadium Hamburg. This new stadium, which was inaugurated in September 2000, can accommodate 56,114 people.
