Old Elbe Tunnel is a 426 meter long tunnel that was opened in Hamburg in 1911. Since then, this tunnel had turned into a tourist attraction of Hamburg. It is also known as Alter Elbtunnel. This tunnel is located 24 meter beneath the external surface of the city. The tunnel comprises of two tubes. Central Hamburg is connected with the shipyards as well as the docks with these tubes. They also connect Hamburg with the south side of Elbe River. Thus it has become easy for thousands of workers to move from the south side of the river to central Hamburg via this tunnel.
