Hamburg Mayor


The present Hamburg mayor or the Burgermeister of Hamburg is Carl-Friedrich Arp Freiherr von Beust. He is also known as Ole von Beust. Born on April 13, 1955, Carl-Friedrich Arp Freiherr von Beust belongs to a political background. His father was Friedrich Ferdinand von Beust, who was also an active politician in the Hamburg government.

The Burgerschaft or the parliament of Hamburg has the responsibility of electing the head of the government or the First Mayor. Carl-Friedrich Arp Freiherr von Beust was an active member of the Christian Democratic Union or the CDU in the year 1971. He later became the CDU faction deputy in the year 1973 until he left the party in the year 1975 to study law. He graduated from the law school in the year 1983 and practiced as an independent lawyer.
