Blankenese

A small village in the suburbs of Hamburg, Blankenese is a favorable tourist destination in the city. It is located on the hillside of Hamburg, facing the river Elbe. Initially Blankenese was a fishing village where retired captains of ships built their villas. Today, it is a huge crowd puller in Hamburg. Made up of picturesque villas and houses, the village is a weekend getaway for the local residents and a popular destination for tourists.

Blankenese in Hamburg lies on the western part of Hamburg. It can be reached by S1 train route. Visitors have to take a walk down the hill from the train station. On their way down to the river Elbe, they will come across the most attractive villas facing the river. These villas serve as houses or summerhouses of rich and
affluent people.Ferries running from St. Pauli-Landungsbrucken to Blankenese are also available.

With a backdrop of green hills, Blankenese is one of the most beautiful places in Hamburg. One interesting feature of the village is the absence of streets. Instead, there are alleys and stairways which offer a fantastic view of the houses and the river. Moreover, the village of Blankenese consists of a number of restaurants and cafes where people can enjoy a coffee and watch the ships enter and leave the harbor.

Delightful and quite with enough scope for relaxing and enjoying serene moments, Blankenese is characterized by beautiful landscapes and an old world charm.
