On 23 June 2006, a Group G match between Togo and France will be held in Cologne. On 26 June 2006, a round of 16 match will be played in Cologne. These matches will be played in the FIFA World Cup Stadium Cologne. The football-crazy people of Cologne heaved a collective sigh of relief when this stadium was opened in 2004 in Cologne. It had missed out on hosting a World Cup match in 1974 because there was no world-class stadium here. The stadium has a total seating capacity of 46,120 people.
