Tourist Attractions: Berlin has a rich cultural heritage. This is evident in the many historical and modern monuments of its cultural heritage. Beaches: Berlin is located completely inland. You will not find any sea beaches here. However, there are a couple of beaches by the sides of lakes that you can visit.

You can also enjoy a day out by the side of some rivers. For instance, one lake that you will surely enjoy visiting is Schlachtensee. It is situated on the outskirts of Grunewald forest. It is a peaceful and serene lake, which has pristine blue water. You are even allowed to swim here. The gardens and the forest surrounding this serene oasis are just the right place to relax or enjoy a picnic with the family. You can sail the waters by hiring a boat. To replenish your energy, there are a couple of restaurants also here.

Activities: Berlin is a city of sports lovers, like most of Germany. Football is a national passion in Germany and Berlin. You can enjoy plenty of outdoor sports while you are in Berlin. For instance, if you would like to play a round or two of golf while you are here, you can pay a visit to the Berliner Golf-Club Gatow, Global Golf Berlin, or Golf-Zentrum Berlin-Mitte. If you would like to do some horse riding while you are here, then you can visit Trabrennbahn Mariendorf, Trabrennbahn Karlshorst, and Galopprennbahn Hoppegarten. Besides this, you can enjoy tennis, skating, cycling, climbing, and water sports too.

FIFA World Cup 2006: The final of the FIFA World Cup 2006 will be held in Berlin on 9th July 2006. Several other matches will also be played here. On 20 June 2006, a Group A match between Ecuador and Germany will be played here. On 15 June 2006, a Group B match between Sweden and Paraguay will be played here. On 13 June 2006, a Group F match between Brazil and Croatia will be played here. On 23 June 2006, a Group H match between Ukraine and Tunisia will be played here. On 30 June 2006, a Quarter-Final match will be held here. Then, of course, the final will also be held here. The matches in Berlin will be played at the modern Olympic Stadium in Berlin. These matches will be attended by 75,000 people and watched by about a billion people live on television. The Olympic Stadium is an extremely modern stadium, which is lighted by 5,000 dimmable fluorescent lamps, the latest public address system, and modern floodlighting.
