Berlin Geography


The locational alignment of Berlin is an important determining factor of Berlin Geography. The River Havel has a total length of 325 kilometers. The towns that are situated on the banks of River Havel are Berlin, Brandenburg, Werder, Potsdam. Lakes also feature prominently on the topography of Berlin. Lakes account for 3000 hectares of the total landscape.

The geographical alignment of Berlin plays a key role in determining the climatic conditions of the city. Berlin enjoys a continental climate with bright and pleasant summers and chilly winters. The summer temperatures in Berlin range from 25oC to 30o C while the winter temperature can go below the freezing point. The month of July and August in Berlin get the maximum rainfall. Berlin has an average precipitation of 22 inches in the form of snowfall
