Berlin Districts


The important Berlin districts are Tiergarten, Mitte, Kreuzberg, Charlottenburg and Wilmersdorf. Each of the districts in Berlin have a noteworthy importance of their own. While some are important cultural centers in the country, the others prove to be the best shopping and entertainment retreats in Berlin.

The Charlottenburg district is situated to the north of Kurfürstendamm. Charlottenburg district is considered to be one of the best shopping districts in Berlin. Charlottenburg district in Berlin is also known for its tourist attractions like Schloss Charlottenburg. It is a palace that was built by Queen Sophie Charlotte. The famous Egyptian Museum, containing artefacts of Egypt, is another attraction of Charlottenburg district.

Wilmersdorf, another district in Berlin, is renowned for its picturesque landscape. Tourists from all over the world are drawn towards the beauty of the Grunewald Forest that is located within teh borders of Wilmersdorf district.
Home to some of the most important cultural centers, this district in Germany is also an important commercial hub, characterized by some of the famous hotels like Bleibtreu Hotel and the Savoy Hotel.

Kreuzberg district in Berlin is known for its historical significance. The sobriety and the tranquility of the district still carries the reminiscences of the past with places like the Checkpoint Charlie.

Once considered to be the wealthiest districts in Germany, Mitte district was home to some of the most important business and political centers in the country. After World War II, the district was reduced to ruins until it came under the administration of the East German Government.

Tiergarten district in Berlin seems to be a rendezvous of commercial hubs and entertainment retreats. This district is usually known for its zoos and botanical gardens. The Tiergarten Park in this district was once a famous deer park. But much of it was destroyed during the Second World War but has recently been renovated by the Zoo Authority of Berlin.
