Berlin is the largest city of Germany and also its capital. From the years 1949 to 1990, Berlin consisted of two cities - East Berlin and West Berlin. It was previously situated in the state of Prussia, but now it's a city state. Berlin played an important role in Germany's and the world's history, since it was the seat of the Nazi government during the 20th century. Berlin was ruined completely by bombing raids by the Allies during World War II, but was rebuilt again. The city of Berlin is sub-divided into 12 administrative districts. The 1936 Olympics were held in Berlin. The 18th FIFA World Cup finals will take place in Berlin on 9th July 2006.
Climate:Every year, from May to August, Berlin experiences warm weather accompanied by sunshine. Most of the summer days receive sunshine. July and August are the warmest months of the year with average high temperatures reaching 86o F. These months are also the most unpredictable months and often clouds form over the skies within minutes, changing the sunny days into rainy days. Winters can be extremely cold and experience frequent rainfall throughout. Berlin usually experiences a lot of snowfall also. The best time to visit Berlin would be from May to late October.
