It was previously situated in the state of Prussia, but now it's a city state. Berlin played an important role in Germany's and the world's history, since it was the seat of the Nazi government during the 20th century. The 1936 Olympics were held in Berlin. The 18th FIFA World Cup finals will take place in Berlin on 9th July 2006.

Climate:Every year, from May to August, Berlin experiences warm weather accompanied by sunshine. Most of the summer days receive sunshine. July and August are the warmest months of the year with average high temperatures reaching 86o F. These months are also the most unpredictable months and often clouds form over the skies within minutes, changing the sunny days into rainy days. Winters can be extremely cold and experience frequent rainfall throughout. Berlin usually experiences a lot of snowfall also. The best time to visit Berlin would be from May to late October.
