Berlin is the largest city of Germany and also its capital. From the years 1949 to 1990, Berlin consisted of two cities - East Berlin and West Berlin. It was previously situated in the state of Prussia, but now it's a city state. Berlin played an important role in Germany's and the world's history, since it was the seat of the Nazi government during the 20th century. Berlin was ruined completely by bombing raids by the Allies during World War II, but was rebuilt again. The city of Berlin is sub-divided into 12 administrative districts.
