Radio in Paris
Paris radio transmission started in the year 1921, with the first broadcast taking place on 24th December of the same year, aiming at the common Paris people. This was followed by the formation of Radiola, the first private Paris radio station in 1922.
Nationalization of radio transmission in Paris took place in the post-Second World War period. However, it took 40 long years for the private companies to enter the Paris area and broadcast programs in the local radio station. It was only after 1981 that the total number of radio stations in Paris increased and reached around 200. However, the initial condition of transmission was much underdeveloped, with the

programs of different stations overlapping with each other tremendously. Moreover, there were also cases where transmissions were irregular in nature and the quality of the programs broadcast was also poor. This situation ended with the foundation of a number of regulatory bodies like Haute Autorité, CNCL and the Conseil Supérieur de l'Audiovisuel, which offered licenses to some private companies to operate on particular frequencies.
Radio Tour Eiffel is considered to be the first radio station in Paris, which started functioning properly on December 24th 1940. The total transmission time was only half an hour, forecasting the daily weather condition and review of music and the press. It was only on 3rd November 1925 that broadcast of the first news took place.
At present, several FM and AM radio stations are operative in Paris and the Île-de-France area. Among the latest ongoing FM bands in Paris, mention may be made about Autoroute FM (107,7 ), Fréquence protestante or Radio Notre Dame (100,7), Radio courtoisie (95,6), Chante France (90,9), France Inter (87,8) and many others.
