sophisticated look to the interior. There is a magnificent south-facing garden courtyard wall. The architecture of Institute du Monde Arabe was planned by the French architect Jean Nouvel. He introduced an ocular device consisting of numerous and distinguished shapes of metallic midriffs set in perforated metal borders. These midriffs function like a camera lens to minimize the sun's penetration into the interior of the museum. Thus the entire effect of these forms is like a massive Islamic pierced shield. The brilliant architecture is admired by the visitors ever since its construction in 1988.
The joining of the curving wall in the north facing the Seine River and the rectilinear block facing the the university building and the open plaza takes the shape of a sharp cleft, which is also deep. Tourists can avail metro line 7 or 10 to Jussieu, to reach this museum. This construction is mainly notable for its archives and splendid architecture. The institute is open regularly between 10 am and 6 pm, except on Monday.
