  • Pierre Cardin: The legendary fashion designer was born to a French family in France. He completed his education and started working with two Paris design houses, namely Schiaparelli and Paquin. Cardin also worked under Christian Dior during the age of the 'New Look'. Finally he established his own fashion house in 1950 and started with a men's wear boutique in the French capital. The boutique sold a wide variety of trendy collarless jackets, roll neck jumpers and other informal clothes. At present Pierre Cardin boutiques sell a complete range of fashion items, accessories as well toiletries in almost every part of the world.

  • Christian Dior: Christian Dior was among the most prestigious fashion designers between the 1940s and 1950s. He ruled the fashion industry after the World War II, with his 'New Look' creation. Dior is currently a global brand and produces a variety of products.

Contemporary Fashion Designers in Paris

During the later half of the twentieth century, the fashion designers of Paris were influenced by other international designers. The legacy of the eminent designers are carried forward by some contemporary designers like Jean Paul Gaultier,Christian Lacroix, Valentino, Karl Lagerfeld, Francisco de Rabanne da Cuervo and many other designers.
  • Jean Paul Gaultier experimented with his designs, creating a blend of wearable and interesting attires. Currently he designs as many as 6 collections every year.

  • John Galliano is another distinguished designer who is known for his imagination and dexterous designing skills. Galliano has created dresses for famous people like Diana, Princess of Wales and Cate Blanchett, the Hollywood actress. Galliano leads the design house of Christian Dior and has created collections including trendy eye wear, ready-to-wear, couture and accessories for the brand.

  • Christian Lacroix is among the popular fashion designers in Paris, who rose to prominence in the 1980s. He is well known for his haute creations, ready-to-wear line, leather goods, scarves, jewelry, glasses, shoes, bridal wear, kid's wear, perfumes and much more.
