The Eiffel Tower is an international icon of Paris, France. It is a tower built of puddle iron on the Champ de Mars just beside the River Seine in Paris. It has become one of the most distinguished structures in the world ever since its construction in 1889. The tower is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel. Emile Nouguier, Stephen Sauvestre and Maurice Koechlin were the co architects of this tower. A survey done showed that almost 200,000,000 visitors came to witness this historical tower ever since its construction. Eiffel Tower in Paris is considered to be the most visited attraction of the city and also the tallest construction in Paris.
The structure of the Eiffel Tower rises to an approximate height of 324 meters, which is as tall as a 81 story building. The tower weighs almost 7,300 tons. The first and second levels of the tower can be accessed by stairs and lifts. The ticket booth is located at the south tower base and the stairs begin at that point. The first platform stairs reach to the east tower and the third level is only accessible by the elevator. The numbering of the steps is printed chronologically on the side of the stairs to
indicate the progress. Most of the levels offer a spectacular view of the city except at some stretches of

enclosed stairway. The tower is usually painted every seven years to protect it from rusting. Occasionally the color of the paint changes. Although the entire tower looks the same color, it is painted with three different colors.
The Eiffel Tower is a well-frequented historical monument of Paris. Several tours to Eiffel Tower are conducted in Paris, which should never be missed. The visitors are not allowed to carry any large-sized hand baggage or animals except for Seeing Eye dogs. The tower is open all year long every day from 9:00am to midnight during June 15 to September 1. It is opened till 11:00pm on rest of the days.

Two elevators are in constant service, that counts up to almost hundred round trips every day. One elevator is available approximately in every 8 minutes.
