It was reconstructed by Napoleon Bonaparte and gradually became the favorite residence of Napoleon III.   • The chateau of Versailles occupies a prominent place is the itinerary of Paris. This splendid palace near the city of Paris was the residence of Monarchs Louis XlV, XV, XVI and also Marie Antoinette. Tourists are spell bound by the boundless opulence of the castle. The wonderful chateau of Chambord was initiated in 1519 under Francois I and was finally completed by Henri II, Charles IX and Henri III. During the reign of Francois I, nearly 2000 men worked to construct the castle.

Some of the other castles of the Loire Valley are Chenonceau and Amboise. The world famous museum Louvre was previous a palace, which was later converted into a museum.
