The palace was constructed by architect Brongniart, guided by the instructions of Napoleon. It served as the main building of the Paris Stock Exchange from 1826 till the 20th century. In 1909 Palais Brongniart was extended and Salle de la Corbeille was introduced. It has a circular room bordered with a railing and is known as the Corbeille.
