Nimes Government


The Nimes Government or the local government of Nimes is endowed with a number of crucial duties and responsibilities, which are essential for the city's administration. The head of the local government of Nimes is the Mayor. The present Mayor of Nimes is Jean-Paul Fournier, who has been in office since 2001.

Nimes is a commune or administrative district in France. The commune is split into a number of polling stations and 7 cantons. The territory of Nimes falls under the first and second districts of a department in France known as Gard.

The last local election in Nimes was held on 9th March in 2008. The candidates who stood for the elections were Detrie, Charmasson, Pastor, Ruty, Berta, Casaurang, Clary and Fournier. Jean-Paul Fournier won the election by 39.78 % votes. According to the data gathered on 29th February, 2008, Nimes had 85.011 registered voters listed on the electoral rolls. The list comprised 38.116 men and 46.895 women.

Functions of Nimes Government
