National Automobile Museum is reputed to be one of the most popular museums among tourists from abroad as well as from France. The museum complex is located at 192 Avenue de Colmar, Mulhouse 68100 - France. Grand cars dating back to many years and even a century are on display. Rolls Royce, Bugattis and Pangahrds account for the chief attraction of the Museum. Also, there is a good collection of contemporary cars and cars from the recent past. The total car collection adds up to four fifty cars, the oldest of which dates back to 1878. Of these 450, cars, two hundred of them are Bugattis.
Foundation History of National Automobile Museum
The cars were the property of two textile mill proprietors, Fritz Schlumpf and Hans Schlumpf. Within the museum premises, tourists will also come across the shrine of Mrs.Schlumpf, the mother of Fritz Schlumpf and Hans Schlumpf.

The two brothers had made up this fabulous collection of cars during the 1950s and 1960s. Not many people knew about this until the out break of revolt of workers. The Schlumpf brothers had to flee Switzerland. During a raid by the workers, the collection of cars was discovered. The car collection was then inaugurated for public viewing by the government and the union of the workers.
Visiting National Automobile Museum
The National Automobile Museum of Mulhouse is known as the Musée National de l'Automobile de Mulhouse. Tourists can take a look around the museum anytime between nine in the morning and six in the evening. Between July and August, the museum remains open till 6:30 in the evening. The museum remains closed for public viewing on the Christmas Day and the first January. The entry fee is nominal but varies for people of different age. No entry fee is required for children under the age of six.
