Artur Dinter


After completing school life,Artur Dinter started studying Philosophy and Natural Science in Munich and Strasbourg. During the period from 1901 to 1903, Artur Dinter was engaged as a Chemistry Assistant at Strasbourg University. In 1903, he completed his graduation.

During his tenure at Strasbourg University, Arthur Dinter started writing plays. In 1906, Artur Dinter was awarded the first prize for his famous play Die Schmuggler, means "The Smugglers".

After completing graduation, Dinter was appointed as the Director of the Botanical Garden in Strasbourg. In the next year (1905), Dinter changed his mind and started working on drama. Eventually, he became a prominent theatre character in his Alsatian homeland.

During the period from 1906 to 1908, Dinter was engaged as a Director at city theatre in Rostock, Berlin. As a Director, Artur Dinter steered the theatre-publishing house. He was also a member of the anti-Semitic and colonialistic Alldeutscher Verband.

Artur Dinter became involved in the First World War.At the beginning, he was an Oberleutnant in Alsatian

infantry reserve but within a short period of time, Dinter became a Captain of the reserve. In 1916, Artur Dinter became seriously wounded and admitted to field hospital. The injury impelled him to be discharged from military. During his period in field hospital, Artur Dinter came to know about the writings of Houston Stewart Chamberlain and eventually became a believer of the völkisch movement. völkisch movement was a populist movement.

Dinter established himself as a writer, after his famous book Die Sünde wider das Blut ("The Sin Against the Blood") formally made public in 1917. It was a bestseller.

Artur Dinter's Involvement in Volkisch Movement

Artur Dinter was the founding member of German-völkisch Freedom Party. During his term in German-völkisch Freedom Party, Dinter moved ahead steadily with Adolf Hitler. He also became a publisher of Der Nationalsozialist newspaper. In 1927, Dinter instituted the Spiritual Christian Religion Community, which ultimately directed to conflict with Hitler.

On 21st May 1948, Dinter died at the age of 71.
