Lyon Light Festival: Held annually on 8th of December at the onset of winter, this event is celebrated with elaborate decoration and illumination of each and every house in the city of Lyon. The buildings, streets and shops are decorated with lights during the festival. Candles are lit in households. A number of musical and dance performances make the city atmosphere lively.

World Pastry Cup: The World Pastry Cup is held biannually in Lyon. This famous event of Lyon continues for two days. The competition attracts teams from countries from across the world. Prizes are distributed by a panel of judges depending upon the presentation and creativity. The teams of the participating countries in the competition must have a chocolate-chef, pastry specialist and an ice expert. They must prepare a pastry within a certain predetermined time limit. The time limit is 10 hours.

Bocuse d’Or- World Cuisine Contest: The Bocuse d’Or, also known as the World Cuisine Contest, as the name suggests, is a cooking competition among the best chefs from across the globe. It is sponsored by French Grand Chef Paul Bocuse. This festival is held twice every year. The winner is awarded with Gold Bocuse.

Biennial Dance Festival: It takes place in the month of September and continues for a few weeks. It is a very popular event of the city of Lyon.
