Greater Helsinki is one of the important regions of Finland, which is made up of a number of municipalities. Greater Helsinki refers to the regions, which surround the Helsinki or the capital of Finland and is located in the southern part of the country. Thus it is close to the coast of the Gulf of Finland, that forms a part of the Baltic Sea.
Greater Helsinki is known by other names as well such as Capital Region, Helsinki Region and Helsinki Metropolitan Area.
