The Finnish Civil War Helsinki was the result of the social and the political upheavals during the World War II. Fought in the year 1918, from the month of January to May, the Finnish Civil War is an intricate part of Helsinki history and Finland as a whole. The two forces that clashed during the civil war were the two predominant parties in the country-the Social democrats, who were referred to as the 'Reds' and the non-socialist, conservative party called the 'Whites'. The Reds were patronized by the People's Deputation of Finland and had the support of the Bolshevist Russia. The 'Whites' on the other hand had military assistance from the German Empire.
After a defeat in the world war and the corresponding wars following it like the February and the October revolution, Russia suffered a complete dismantling of its political infrastructure. As a result of which, Finland also suffered social dilapidation, especially in the year 1917. Bagging the chance to establish power over the

country's administration, the two parties-the Red and the White tried to contest for it. With the increasing difference between the two political parties, the turmoil in the country aggravated. This took a turn towards the worst when the two groups formed their own military coups called the Red Guard and the White Guard.
The situation went way beyond control after the Senate gave the verdict in favor of the White guards and officialized them in the year 1918. After the victory of the whites in the consequent war, the rule of the country was passed on to the Germans from the Russians. The 'Whites' tried to create a German monarchy, the efforts of which were deflated after the defeat of the Germany in World War I. As a result, Finland emerged as an independent democratic republic.
