Noah Samara


Noah Samara is the founder and the Chief Executive Officer of WorldSpace Corporation, which is the first satellite radio of the world. He was born in the city of Addis Ababa of Ethiopia. His father was a Sudanese and mother was an Ethiopian woman. He went to United States at the age of 17 years for educational purpose.

In 1978, Noah Samara received his bachelor’s degree in English from the East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. Thereafter he got his master’s degree from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in the field of international business. He even did his master’s in ‘doctor of jurisprudence’ from Georgetown University Law School. He is specialized in international communications satellite laws.
He played an important role in the establishment of XM Satellite Radio. Since the middle of 80s, he was engaged in the development of both low earth orbit (LEO) satellite and geostationary system. He initially worked at the Geostar Corporation and later on worked in the law firms of Washington like Howard and Civiletti, Venable and Baetjer.

He aimed at providing necessary information to the people in Asia and Africa especially on AIDS through his WorldSpace Corporation. It was founded in the year of 1990. It broadcasts programs related to weather information, daily soap operas and other locally important news. Maximum of funds for WorldSpace are raised inside Africa.
