German Embassy in Addis Ababa is located in the north-eastern part of the city. Dr. Claas Dieter Knoop is the present ambassador of this embassy. The diplomatic relationship between Germany and Ethiopia was established after an agreement named ‘Ethio-German Trade and Friendship Treaty’ was signed on 7th March in 1905. The embassy plays an important role in promoting the relationship between Germany and Ethiopia.
The compound of the German Embassy in Addis Ababa has several residential and administrative buildings. There is the Ambassador’s residency and also an Ethiopian village meant for eighteen local embassy staff and their families.

Monday to Thursday.But on Friday, it is open from 7:45 am to 1:45 pm. The consular section remains open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon from Monday to Friday.
