British Embassy in Addis Ababa is ideally located on the north-eastern outskirts of the city. It is within close proximity to the embassies of Kenya and Russia and the administrative centre of Addis Ababa. The compound covers an area of about 90 acres of land. Norman Ling is the ambassador of the Addis Ababa British Embassy.
The various sections of the British Embassy of Addis Ababa are:
- Chancery: It looks after the bilateral political relationship between the United Kingdom and Ethiopia.
- Consular and Visa Section: It provides consular assistance and protection to the British nationals of Ethiopia. It also issues passport, compiles and disseminates FCO travel advice and carries out registration of births and deaths.
- Defense Section: It aims at establishing a long term relationship between the Ethiopian Ministry of National Defense and United Kingdom’s Armed Forces.
- Commercial Section: It is engaged in the promotion of trading relationship between UK and Ethiopia.
- Information Section: This section tries to maintain good relationship with media, educational and Government institutions and

various other civic bodies.
- Management Section: This section provides administrative support to other sections of the British Embassy in Addis Ababa.
Technical Works Section: They are engaged in the development and maintenance of the compound of the embassy.
The consular section works from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm from Monday to Thursday. On Friday, it is open from 8:30 am to 1 pm. The visa office is open from 8 am to 3 pm from Monday to Friday.
