Isna/ Esna is a beautiful city in the country of Egypt. Isna or Esna is located around 33 miles away from the city of Luxor in Egypt towards the south. The Greek name of this town was Latopolis. Fish highly respected in this region, as it represents the Goddess Neith.
It is believed that in the 18th dynasty, Isna gained importance due to the growing relationship of Egypt and Sudan. At that time, a route was established between Derr and Isna/ Esna. Afterwards, under the Romans and Greeks, Isna became the capital city of the 3rd town of the Upper Egypt.

Isna or Esna is also popular as a tourist destination in Egypt. Throughout the year, thousands of international tourists come here to explore the town. The city is well connected with the major cities of Egypt. Besides that the accommodation facilities in Isna are also great.

Isna has recently become a commercial hub in Egypt with a fabric industry. Tourists can also enjoy shopping in this city by purchasing good quality clothes. The animal market that is held on every Saturday is also very popular. Beside this, there are some excellent houses in the city. Along with these, there is the church called Deir Manaos Wa al-Shuhada belonging to the 10th century. It is located around 4 miles southwest of Isna. This church is considered to be one of the most wonderful attractions in the Upper part of Egypt.

It is believed that this monastery was established as the commemoration of Emperor Decius. His cartouche is said to be the last carving on the walls of Khnum Temple in Isna's. This temple is indeed the most attractive tourist spot in this city that lies below the level of pit houses.
