The Cairo Tower is the concrete TV tower in Cairo, the capital city of Egypt. The location of Cairo Tower is in Zamalek district on Gezira Island in the River Nile. This tower was built from 1956 to 1961. The Cairo Tower stands 15 km to the southwest of the Great Pyramid of Giza. This tower ranks the fourth tallest towers in the world.
This tower, which stands tall at a height of 187 meters, is 43 meters higher than the Great Pyramid of Giza. The architecture of Cairo Tower resembles a lotus plant because of the partially open lattice-work design on the exterior wall. The top floor of the tower houses an observation deck and a restaurant. city and ranks only fourth among the worlds highest towers. The tower is made of granite and was built under the supervision of Naum Chebib.
The best time to visit this tower is at sunset, which is also known as Borj al-Qahira, when millions of city lights slowly lighten up the city. From here, the tourists can see the easternmost extent of Cairo up to the Muqattam Hills. The Nile River flowing north to the Mediterranean is also clearly visible from this tower. There are some telescopes to facilitate clear viewing.
The Cairo Tower opens every day from 9:00 a.m and is open till 1:00 a.m in the next morning. The experience at this tower is once a life time chance. Fees are charged for taking photos from the tower.
