Cairo Taxi

Cairo Taxi is one of the most convenient modes of communication in the capital city of Cairo. At present the taxis in Cairo are called 'Cairo Cab', which were earlier referred to as 'Cairo Taxi'. Previously old modeled cars were used as taxis and were run by individuals. This change took place in March 2006 and since then new models of cars are used as taxis to give the city a new modern look.

There are numerous car rental agencies from where one can hire taxis. For hiring a cab at Cairo, one has to call a toll free number and can get a taxi at any point of time. It is very easy to communicate with the taxi drivers in Cairo as most of them can understand and speak in English. If one hires a taxi in Cairo, the minimum fare is $3 USD and it finally increases with distance. At present, nearly 130 cabs are operating within the city.

A number of private companies run cabs in the major cities of Giza, Cairo and Qalyubia. The Cairo Cabs are comfortable and cozy. Luxurious and air conditioned cars like Volks Wagen Parrati, Hyundai Elantra and Chevrolet Optra are usually painted yellow and used as taxis.
