National Bank of Egypt in Cairo is the oldest commercial bank in the country. The bank has been continuously developing its services and products to satisfy the needs of the customers using state-of-the-art technology. NBE at Cairo has 401 banking units in Egypt. National Bank of Egypt has made its presence felt internationally through the National Bank of Egypt (UK) Limited, NBE – New York Branch and three other representative offices in Shanghai in China, Johannesburg in South Africa, and Dubai in UAE.

National Bank of Egypt was founded on June 25, 1898 with an asset of £1 million. It performed the duties of a central bank during the 1950s. Since the mid 1960s, it has been given the responsibility to issue and manage saving certificates on behalf of the government of
Egypt.
