The tourists interested in Egyptian history frequent this museum. Especially the modern period and the period of the crusades are well projected in this museum. The ceremonial equipments, costumes, life-size models depict several of Egypt's main battles. The museum is surrounded by strict security. The huge old gate is used as the museum entrance. This gate was used in the defense against enemies. There is a huge black cannon to the left of the gate, that was used during the Mohamed Ali period , which till today is in a working condition.
Other than these weapons, there are are some statues from the Egyptian history. The statue of Menes, Ahmose, Ramesses II and many more statues have significant status in the Egyptian history. The weapons on display were mainly used during the World War II. The museum is divided into various sections to facilitate the division of artifacts according to their period and importance. There are many paintings, which projects the war eras in Egypt. The location of the Military museum enables the tourists to visit many more hot spots of Cairo, situated at proximity. The Military Museum have different opening hours in Summer (8 am-5:30 pm) and Winter ( 8 am-4:30 pm). This museum is one of the very popular destinations of Egypt.
