Mastaba of Mereruka is among the biggest and most excellent tombs that were built in the Old Kingdom at Saqqara. The tombs of nobles and significant people in ancient Egypt were known as mastaba. In the Old Kingdom of Egypt, Mereruka was in the position of a vizier to the Pharaoh Teti I.
The Mastaba of Mereruka at Cairo comprises of 32 chambers that are divided between Mereruka, his wife, Seshseshat and their son Meriteti. The rooms of Mereruka's wife, are located on the western side of the mastaba. One of the main attractions of this tomb is the
life-size statue of Mereruka himself, which lies in a alcove that face a room whose ceiling is supported by

The Mastaba of Mereruka in Cairo is situated on the northwest of the pyramid of Teti. This rare historical monument was discovered in the year 1893. Most rooms in Mastaba of Mereruka are adorned with interesting scenes from day to day life of the Old Kingdom. There are scenes depicting Mereruka hunting along the banks of river Nile, crocodiles attacking hippopotamus are represented in the paintings, the cattles of Mereruka crossing a marsh and many more. The passage directs to the burial room, where Mereruka was buried in a limestone sarcophagus.
